Thematic sessions at secondary schools

Thematic sessions at secondary schools aim to introduce these students to different aspects of the EU as an actor of peace and security, in their relations with the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia, highlighting institutions, processes, speeches and practices. These sessions are conducted by team members in conjunction with ‘FEUC@Escolas’ https://www.uc.pt/feuc/feucescolas and ‘CES Goes to School‘, institutionalized projects at the Faculty of Economics and the Center for Social Studies, respectively. These projects are part of strategies for the dissemination of scientific culture and knowledge, aiming to promote contacts between research and the community in general, with researchers visiting secondary schools and promoting informative sessions on specific topics. The initiative has been under development at CES since 2010, and at FEUC since 2021, expanding the possibilities for sharing knowledge. These projects reach about 5,000 secondary school students per year. The Center of Excellence is articulated with these projects, contributing with topics in the EU area as an actor of peace and security.
