This volume analyses the European Union as an international actor, focusing on its action in the area of peace and security. In an international context where the challenges to peace and security are many and varied, including the current scenario of the war in Ukraine, this volume presents a theoretical contextualization of the EU in the field of peace and security studies, elaborates on the institutional dimension and interprets the narratives and policies that are implied in those discussions. A set of illustrative case-studies aim at reflecting on the peace and security dynamics within the framework of EU action and intervention, such as in terms of the Eastern Partnership or the relations with Russia, as well as in contexts related to increasing disinformation dynamics or through its presence in field missions.
