Bleddyn Bowen is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Leicester, and is an expert on space warfare, international relations in outer space, and strategic theory.

Dr Bowen is the author of War in Space: Strategy, Spacepower, Geopolitics, published in 2020 by Edinburgh University Press. He speaks, presents, and briefs frequently to UK and international audiences on matters of space policy and security, including the No. 10 Downing Street Policy Unit, NATO, the European Space Agency, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Royal College of Defence Studies, the Royal United Services Institute, the US Department of Defense, the UK Ministry of Defence, Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and the UK Parliament to name a few. He teaches on his research expertise both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has recently launched a Continuing Professional Development Course in Space Security and Law at the University of Leicester. Before joining Leicester in January 2018, Dr Bowen was a Lecturer in Defence Studies at the Defence Studies Department, King’s College London, which is embedded at the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham. Prior to that, he was a Teaching Fellow at the Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth University, where he also studied for his PhD.  In 2014, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Space Policy Institute in Washington, D.C.
