In this Policy Cafe, the ongoing transformations in national and European defense, as a result of technological development, both in the civil and military areas, as well as its use in a highly competitive geopolitical context are discussed. Centrality is given to technological advances in two essential areas for the security of European societies and with strong disruptive potential: the spatial dimension and cyberspace, with particular attention to the challenges facing the articulation of the Portuguese business fabric with the dynamic European markets and priorities for action to adapt defense instruments and policies to this demanding context.
